My name is Kevin Ward and I'm the official Town Crier for Bromsgrove, located near Birmingham in the UK. I've been Bromsgrove's Town Crier, Bellman to the Court Leet and Court Baron of the Manor of Bromsgrove, since 1985.
Being a Town Crier runs in the family, as my Great-Great-Great Grandfather was Jacob Wilson, the last Town Crier of Birmingham, who died in 1882. My vocal skills were first enlisted at the age of 6 when I was asked to join a Bournville Operatic Society performance with my parents and grandparents. The role called for a child with a loud voice!
